With a BA in Theatre Arts, Selena has taught theatre classes, directed live productions, stage-managed, designed, and performed in theatre and film. She is active in theatre all over the Denver Metro area, sits on the Board of Directors for the Elemental Theatre Company, and is the Technical Director for the South Suburban Parks and Recreation Center Theatre Department.
Audiences last saw her on this stage as Helen Bonfils in 2024. Her other Denver stage credits include The LGBTQ+ Odd Couple (Olive), The Language Archive (Emma), Annie (Miss Hannigan), Sordid Lives (Bitsy Mae Harling), Zorro the Musical (the Old Gypsy), Towards Zero (Inspector Leach), and The Unsinkable Molly Brown (Ensemble). While in Phoenix, Arizona, she performed in Up the Down Staircase (Bea Schacter), Into the Woods (Lucinda), and Hansel & Gretel (the Witch). Film credits include One of Us (Parker's Mom), Evie at Eighteen (Martha), Ronan the Ronin (Camille Pearce), and Ringers: Lord of the Fans.
Selena is honored to be the first to portray Prime Minister Meir in When Strawberries Bloom. She directed Mike Broemmel’s The Bonfil’s Girl last year and loved seeing such an important historical character come to life on stage!
Selena dedicates this performance to her grandfather, Louis, whose original family name (and her own) she does not know. He escaped the small Jewish town of Bitola, Macedonia, in the early 1900s and married her Greek Orthodox baba, converting to save his and his descendants' lives.
Deb Flomberg-Rollins has been directing in the Denver theater community for over 20 years, known for her bold, heartfelt, and often irreverent storytelling. Her directing credits include Heathers: The Musical, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Evil Dead: The Musical, Stage Kiss, Dog Sees God, Kimberly Akimbo, Young Frankenstein: The Musical, In the Next Room —recognized in Westword’s Best of Denver—The House of Yes, and Stop Kiss.
Bringing Golda Meir’s story to the stage is both a personal and professional honor. Golda’s time in Denver wasn’t just a chapter—it was a turning point. It was here she first discovered her voice as an activist, a dreamer, and a leader. This play is a chance to revisit that pivotal moment and remind us that even world-changing leaders begin in ordinary places with extraordinary passion.
By day, Deb proudly serves as the Marketing Director for The Jewish Experience, supporting Denver’s Jewish community, and as the Executive Director of City Park Jazz, a beloved institution celebrating the rich cultural and musical history of Denver.
She offers deep thanks to Mike for the opportunity to tell this powerful story, to Selena for bringing Golda to life with such brilliance, and to her husband/stage manager Kevin—whose support, patience, and clipboard skills are unmatched.
Golda’s story reminds us that leadership is forged in real life—in living rooms, classrooms, and conversations. That’s the story Deb is proud to help tell.
A prolific and award-winning playwright, Mike Broemmel is the Resident Playwright for both Act One Productions and Theatrix USA, the producers of When Strawberries Bloom.

Two of Mike's plays have run Off-Broadway. In 2024, a series of three plays by Mike Broemmel were staged at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. The retrospective of plays is supported by Denver Arts & Venues through the ARPA Cultural Partner Activation Program. In addition, in the summer of 2024, Mike's play The Bonfils Girl was selected to reopen the iconic, historic Elitch Theatre, after the nation's first summer stock theatre had been closed for 33 years.
Before embarking on a career as a writer, Mike was involved in the political arena, including running for office himself and serving on the White House Staff in the Office of Media Relations as well as in the Office of the First Lady.
